Windows Above Indoor Swimming Pool
An indoor pool located in front of a wall of windows created a challenge for installing window treatments

About this Project
A local homeowner needed window treatments for a two story wall of windows in the family room of their home. Located just inches from the windows was an indoor swimming pool. Because the pool was very close to the windows, it was not possible to install the window treatments using a ladder. A scaffold was the natural choice for gaining access to the windows. However, the pool was wider than a scaffold and the legs on one side of the scaffold would be over the pool.
The Solution
A 14′ beam was constructed that straddled the length of the indoor pool. This allowed for two of the scaffold legs to rest on the beam while the remaining legs rested on the floor. Protective mats were laid out to protect the hardwood floor from any damage that the steel scaffold legs may cause. The picture to the left shows the beam and scaffold legs. Once the scaffold was assembeld, the installers had a safe platform to work from for the installation.
Unexpected Benefit To The Customer
Upon arrival to install the shades, we noticed that the homeowner also purchased a 14′ long movie screen. The homeowner was going to have an audio visual company install the screen once we were finished with the shade installation. After talking with the homeowner at the completion of the shade installation, we determined that we could save the homeowner time and money by installing the movie screen while we were on site. We did not know of the movie screen before arriving to install the shades. Because Baldwin Design Group is highly responsive and flexible we were able to save the homeowner considerable cost and time by installing the movie screen.
