About this Project
Light coming through the three story high atrium at KBR Wyle created excessive glare for the employees working in the area. They had the following requirements
- Shades had to cut down on glare without blocking all light through the windows.
- The shades needed to fit with the architecture of the building.
- Installation had to be done in a safe manner.
- Installation had to be done with minimal impact and disruption to employees in the area.
The Solution
We provided three design recommendations that would meet the goals of the customer. The final result was the selection of HunterDouglas roller shades.
- The shades allowed for 30% light through the shades, while eliminating troublesome glare.
- The installation was scheduled late in the day when a minimum number of employees would be affected.
- Maintaining a safe work environment meant using a scissor lift and two installers working together on the installation
- Planning before the installation resulted in completing the installation in just a couple hours.
